Frequently Asked Questions
Brick Based Learning is perfect for LEGO-loving kids ages 5 to 8.
Brick Based Learning is the brainchild of Katie Stokes, M.Ed., Ph.D. Katie is the author of The Human Body Activity Book for Kids, and has extensive experience creating and facilitating literacy programs for young children.
Over the years, she discovered that her superpower is finding creative ways to bring learning to life through engaging, hands-on activities. So when her two homeschooled children became obsessed with LEGO, she learned to incorporate LEGO bricks into as many activities as possible.
Katie is supported by a team of educators, business gurus, and LEGO fanatics who provide input on different areas of the business and help keep things running smoothly.
In each month’s kit you will receive a high-quality children’s picture book, an assortment of LEGO bricks, and multiple brick building challenges based on the book to be completed using your own collection of LEGO bricks. You will also have access to a number of digital downloads that complement the book.
Our founder, Katie Stokes, hand selects the books each month, then runs them by other team members to get their input and approval. Katie has years of experience teaching literacy to young children. In addition, she holds a master’s degree in education and a PhD in child development.
She focuses on selecting recently published books with beautiful artwork, positive messages, and characters from all walks of life.

Orders are shipped around mid-month. You will receive an email from our partner, Pirate Ship, when your order is sent.
You will receive the link to the digital content that goes with your book inside your kit each month. Look for the QR code or link provided in your kit.
We use USPS and sometimes packages end up at the post office. Sometimes it just takes an extra day for it to be delivered to your home. If you still don’t receive it after an additional 24 hours, please send us an email at support@brickbasedlearning.com so we can help make sure you get your package.
Currently, we only ship within the United States. This includes all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and military APO, FPO, and DPO addresses.
You will initially be charged on the date that you purchase your subscription.
After that, you will be billed on the 1st of the month according to your subscription plan (monthly, quarterly, or semi-annually).
Signing up for Brick Based Learning means opting in to a subscription that reoccurs every month (or every 3 or 6 months, depending on your subscription choice). We process payments on the 1st of the month in advance of your next shipment.
We collect payment in US dollars.
We ship all of our boxes on the same day, around mid-month. You will receive an email with tracking information when your box ships.
In order to have time to secure all of our materials and pack all of our boxes, we only accept new orders until the 7th of the month.
Therefore, you must subscribe before the 7th of the month in order to receive a box that month. If you subscribe after the 7th, you will receive your first box during the FOLLOWING month’s shipment.
In other words, if you sign up on March 2, you will receive the March box mid-month. If you sign up on March 8, because you missed the March cut-off your first box will be the April box.
The main advantage of signing up for a long-term (3 or 6 months) commitment plan is that you get a lower monthly rate for your box.
Subscribers on the 3- and 6-month plans cannot cancel their plans during their agreed upon commitment term except as outlined in our terms and conditions.
If you sign up for a long-term plan, once your commitment term is up your subscription will renew on a month-to-month basis at the same monthly rate you received when you signed up. At that point you can cancel at any time. Cancellations must be made before the first of the month in order to avoid having your credit card charged.
If you commit to a longer length of fun with books and bricks, you get the best deal! Knowing we have kits to ship ahead of time allows us to make plans with high quality vendors to put together future Brick Based Learning Kits at a great price.
If a long term plan isn't your thing, no problem! We also offer a monthly subscription, so feel free to sign up to whichever plan works best for you and your young LEGO fan.

Yes, you can pause your account or skip a shipment in your customer portal by clicking on "subscriptions," then choosing "manage" on the subscription you wish to pause. From there you will see an option to pause your subscription, and you will be asked how long you wish to pause for.
Be sure to pause your account before the end of the month so you will not be billed on the 1st of the month for that month's box.
You can unsubscribe from your customer portal by clicking on "subscriptions," then choosing "manage" on the subscription you wish to cancel. From there you will see a link to cancel your subscription.
Note that month-to-month customers can unsubscribe at any time. Customers who signed up for a 3-month or 6-month plan will not be able to unsubscribe until their term is up. If you signed up for a longer-term, your credit card will continue to be charged and you will continue to receive your monthly kits until your term is up. Upon completion of your term, your account will be canceled.
In order to cancel before you are re-billed, you need to log in to your account and cancel at least 24 hours prior to the rebilling date, which is on the 1st of each month.
If you need help to cancel your account, send an email to support@brickbasedlearning.com at least 3 business days before the 1st of the month.
